Where do frogs go when they die?
So Jackson got two little frogs for his birthday in a self-contained little box with rocks and water in it. They only need to be fed these little pellets twice a week. In less than a week, I go to check in on them and one is bloated and belly-up. Very, very gross. I tell Mr. Daddy and Mr. Daddy "takes care of it." Jackson isn't paying too much attention to the frogs so we just decide to let it go and see what happens. If you read this blog, you know this is our general style of parenting. Well, on Monday, before school he decides he wants to have breakfast with the frogs. We is eating and watching and talking about the "frogs." Then all of a sudden he says, "Hey, wasn't there another one in here?" So I explained that he died. He wanted to know if we took him to the hospital. I said no, that he was too far gone when we found him. "Where is he?" Daddy took care of it. "I want to talk to Daddy." So we call Daddy at work. Jackson asks, "Is he ok?" No, he is not ok. "Is he sort of ok?" No, not really. He asked if we threw it away which i couldn't bare to answer yes to and so i lied and said we buried him in the backyard. Jackson asked, "so a snake could eat him?" I jump on this and say yes. Your frog has become a part of new life. He buys this. So he is sad for a while and then says. "Where does wine come from?" Grapes. "But Mema says that raisins come from grapes." Mr. Daddy, "yes, they are a very versatile fruit. Jackson it is okay to be sad but daddy has to go." And we're done. He hasn't brought it up again. But i know that when i am least expecting it, he will.
